Coating pans

Coating pans are used to form an aqueous or organic film around any kind of pellets and tablets or micro granules. These pans are also widely used to sugar-coat tablets. A coating pan is an essential requiremet in pharmaceutical applications. Different coating techniques are applied in pharmaceutical industry. Coating Pans have been designed after a careful study of the needs of expert such as Rotational Speed, Angle of inclination of pan volume and temperature. In the process of coating tablets and confectionaries, the personal skill of the coater needs to be supplemented by a correctly designed, versatile coating pan.

Common Features

  • The standard pan is elliptical in shape, mounted at 30° angle. Pans in other geometrical shapes and mounting angles, as per requirement, are also manufactured.
  • RPM of the pan is variable. Hot air blower, thermostat controlled to deliver required quantity of air at selected temperatures between 40° C to 80° C is provided.
  • Other models available with:
  • Tilting Mechanism to adjust angle of pan.
  • Polishing pan with canvas lining with quick and easy mounting on to drive hub.

Operation Principles

Pellets/Tablets are continuously fed into a coating drum at a controlled rate. A high volume of process air heats the tablets at the time of entering and moving in the drum. Coating solution is applied through a series of spray guns as the product moves down the length of the coating drum. The tablets are homogeneously mixed for a uniform coating/weight gain. Shallow bed depth of the pan allows the tablet/pellets to pass through the spraying zone and finally discharged from the exhaust end of the coating drum and transported through a conveyor belt for collection, storage, inspection and packaging. These machines ensure consistent exterior coating.

Areas of Applications

  • Pharmaceutical
  • Vitamins
  • Food
