Conveyor Bridges
Conveyor Bridge is manufactured as a lattice structure whose purpose is to carry one or more conveyor belts that are placed inside the conveyor bridge. The stable design of a conveyor bridge means that it is primarily used in conveyors requiring large span widths between the supports. Distances of up to 40 metres are not unusual. This compares with a normal conveyor belt that requires support approximately every 12–18 metres.
The design of a conveyor bridge can permit several conveyor belts to be placed either alongside each other or on several levels. Alternatively, preparations can be made for such solutions if there may be future need to increase capacity. It is also common that a conveyor bridge is clad in corrugated sheet metal and insulated, which protects against the weather and wind and to an extent replaces dust enclosure. As a conveyor bridge is usually manufactured with full interior standing height, servicing and maintenance of these conveyors are facilitated. Floor grating or a chequered floor plate is usually used for the floor. It is also common to put compressed air and vacuum cleaner pipes, sprinklers and lighting in a conveyor bridge.
The advantages are on the one hand the location of the face conveyor already on the next higher level and on the other hand the elimination of a ramp conveyor. The slope will be bridged by the conveyor bridge without any earth work.
