Impact Flow Gauges are impact plate devices for measuring free flowing granular or powdered materials. Material Flows down a tube and strikes an impact plate that is supported by two single point suspension load cells. The load cells measure only the horizontal component of the impact force. Any material that builds up on the impact plate, therefore, has no effect on accuracy. Impact forces are integrated over time providing flow rate, total weight accumulation and load on the sensing plate.

Impact Flow Gauges

Operationally, free flowing material is directed onto the impact plate and then into the process stream. The measurement of the material flow is taken at the impact plate and is calculated only in the horizontal plane ensuring static material build up has no effect and there is no zero drift. The horizontal force measurement is converted electronically to a proportional flow rate signal and is continuously displayed in kg/hr.

Impact flow gauges are able to accurately measure the rate of flow of a variety of materials. This function is an essential tool in monitoring the actual flow rate of materials going through a process.
