Safety Vests are similar with Safety Jackets. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has guidelines for determining visibility requirements for reflective safety vests worn by road crews, construction workers and others involved in situations where the visibility of a person is important in regards to safety. Safety vests are available in 4 main classes. ANSI Class 1, Class 2 Reflective Safety Vests, ANSI Class 3 Safety Vests and ANSI 207 visibility standards. Public Safety personnel can wear a modified version on the Class 2 vest which is the ANSI 207 visibility class. This standard allows for less background material in order to accommodate a shorter waist for access to medical belts for EMS personal and weapons access for Police.

Safety Vests

Common Types

Adjustable Safety Vests

Adjustable safety vests are useful for shift changes, seasonal changes and their ability to adapt to various comfort levels for each individual. They are adjustable by hook and loop strips around the waist and are also available in flame resistant, public safety, break away and incident command versions.

Children's Safety Vests

children's safety vests in several configurations in smaller kid's sizes providing additional safety while waiting for the school bus, field trips, family outings, bicycle riding or other public functions.

Flame Resistant Safety Vests

Personnel working in environments which have potential exposure to flame hazards should wear flame resistant safety vests and/or clothing.

Construction Safety Vests

Construction safety vests are available in many configurations with various features. Choosing the right construction safety vest depends on the specific task. Variations include mesh, breakaway, economy vests, multi pocket surveyor construction vests, and flame resistant construction safety vests all available in both Class 2 and Class 3 visibility configurations that meet ANSI visibility standards.
