Burst Indicators
Burst Indicators

Burst Indicators are used to provide instantaneous notification of a rupture disc activation or leakage through the disc. Depending on the device selected, burst indicators can be used to activate alarms, bells, remote annunciators or interfaced with process control systems, so that appropriate safety follow-up measures can be taken.

The burst indicators are installed on the discharge side of the bursting disk unit between the holder discharge part and flange, and replaces the standard seals. Upon reaching the contact pressure, the bursting disc opens and destroys the burst indicator. As a result, the closed circuit and thus the working current signal is interrupted the alarm is triggered.

Application areas

After opening of the bursting disk, the indicator is replaced together with the bursting disk. There after, the system is equipped with brand new components and again working reliably. Alternatively, bursting disk equipment with integrated Indicators may be used. For this purpose, Inductive Proximity Switches are combined with a metal flag that is directly attached to the burst membrane.
