The drum tray filter is made to fit most open top drums. Different grades of filter fabric are available; unit comes in enameled steel with a powder-coated basket.
Working Principle
It works with the below principles
-water gravity flows into the rotating drum
-rotating filter element collects floating debris, solids and fibres
-screen is cleaned with directed spray nozzles, filtered water is used for this purpose
-dirt is collected in the integrated collection tray; equipped with a dewatering screw
-collected dirt is forced out of the collection tray with a screw and subsequently collected in a suitable discharge system
-water flows out of the filter through the lower placed outlet
Application area
It is used in the industries related to
-intake water; river-, lake- & seawater
-waste water treatment, effluent polishing in municipal and industrial WWT plants process water, removal of organic and fibrous solids
-desalination plants
-membrane filtration plants
-UV – pre filter
-power plants
-communal and industrial waste water treatment plants
-pulp & paper processing
-food processing, re use of washing water
-irrigation -aqua culture, fish farming
Advantages
The Drum Tray Filters have the following advantages
-efficient and continuous removal of organic matter and light floating solids from river-, lake and sea water
-completely automatic operation
-easy installation
-separation down to 20 micron
-exchangeable elements
-no pressure required, gravity fed system
-low energy use, limited maintenance and labour requirement, low operational costs
-level controls initiate motor functions only when required
-no process interruptions
-unlimited flow capacity in small footprint
-efficient and high reduction of suspended solids
-reduction of BOD5 and COD
-reduction of phosphor, ammonia, nitrogen value
