Inline Diverter, or moving surface, is an integral part of the main conveying surface, and in all but one case pops up on controlled command, coming in direct contact with the underside conveying surface of the load. This plug style diverter valve is utilized to divert material flow in a dilute phase or dense phase pneumatic conveying system from one source to either of two destinations. This valve can also be used to converge material flow from two sources to one destination. The design and construction of this valve is similar to an airlock in that the housing, plug, and endplates are machined to tight tolerances.Inline diverter valve provides smooth transfer of water from one outlet to another.

Inline diverter valves are designed to either allow material to pass through or to divert material to the destination with the demand. By putting one of these diverter valves at each receiver, material from the source can not accidentally end up in the wrong destination because all of the material called for is forced to pass by the receivers with no demand signal and be diverted only to the receiver with the demand signal. They are intended to eliminate blow-by of material and therefore contamination.

There are multiple designs and some are better than others. Some designs depend on a standard Y with a diverter valve operated by compressed air . These may still not force all pellets to the desired destination because there is a small hang-up point.A second type of diverter has a unique design. The biverter, has no hang-up points, therefore no contamination. They can be used in common line or dedicated line systems.
